Patreon Reopened

Hello everyone that's decided to check this place out. We initial unpublished the Patreon because we were unhappy with our progress of development, and the ways the tiers were structured likely gave a skewed vision of how far the money donated was able to go, especially after taxes.

The current tiers are very little as you've probably noticed, but that's to give some support for things like web hosting and storage without making a huge dent in anyone's wallets. Now, let's briefly cover what the plan is.

For the people that won't read past here, a new private build of CBR is now out for former and existing patrons.

New patrons:

The tiers are pretty self explanatory. As we work on Traversion and SCP - CBR, we'll release builds to private versions on Steam. At this point we're unsure of how both games will work with this, but it's looking like Traversion will run through the Steam playtests system if possible, and SCP - CBR will still be the full version accessible to patrons with the demo being the public build.

We're aiming to roughly push a build each month, but will also be doing more frequent ones if the need arises. With things such as the LCZ visual overhaul coming (again), that's a contender for a game that could get more than one build pushed per month.

The main reason we started reconsidering opening up the Patreon again is because how how long the public will be waiting between stable releases... The current focus being Alpha 5.

Old patrons:

Any perks or keys you had previously will be honoured, although for some of them we're not sure when as they'd take a lot more resources and dev time, but don't worry. What you did was not gone. You'll still have access to the patron channels and whatever keys you may have received historically.

The plan going forward:

It's pretty simple. We'll post builds and look for your feedback. The only important thing to remember is that you're there to provide feedback and your thoughts, and we'll adjust the game according to our shared vision in a way that'll hopefully align with that, so please try to avoid going in with any expectations this time 'round.

While we aren't active on Twitter anymore, you can find us on Bluesky, and we do still post the occasional updates to YouTube. You can join the Discord server if you somehow found this outside of there, and hopefully we can hold your interest in the things we're making.

Alpha 5-Dev1 stuff:

Alpha 5-Dev1 for SCP - Containment Breach Reborn is now out on Steam for anyone with early access to trial. Known issues:

  • Incorrect menu scaling on non-standard displays,
  • Low performance,
  • No light layers means lights and shadows may bleed through rooms,
  • Issues with shadows,
  • Incorrect prop/item spawning in SCP rooms,
  • Decals can spawn floating in hallways,
  • Game size bloating from unused assets and rooms that're being worked on/replaced,

Important notes: Currently the intro area has been deprecated and is broken in a few ways, mostly in terms of lighting. All current SCP chambers will either be redecorated or redone, and the hallways have been left completely blank as we figure out how we'd like to proceed with them. One of the reasons for this is that the hallways and generation have been completely overhauled, and are still in the process of being optimised, giving us space for a fresh start. Our current focus: Making the hallways look nice. We're looking for your feedback, ideas, and inspirations for the new hallways. The current direction we're thinking of is bringing them closer back to the original CB in terms of lighting, whilst expanding on them more again.
